Iris Elizabeth Regan Pritchard, age 96, died oneeptember 15, 2010 at Hock Family Pavilion Hospice Center. Mrs. Pritchard was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Whitaker Pritchard; her parents: Luther E. and Sarah Wallace Regan; her sisters: Gladys Buntineevans, Vera Regan Aneews, Hazel Regan Cash, Bertha Reganeent, Mildred Reganeeel, and her best friend for 80 years, Ruth Forlines Dailey. She is survived by her remaining sister, Eileeneegan Jones, of Wilmington. Mrs. Pritchard is also survived by her daughter, Paula Pritchard Breedlove of Durham, her beloved grandchildren, Aneew Fletcher Shannon of Davidson aneellen Fletcher Farley Randy of Morrisville; and 3 great-grandchildren, James Whitaker Fletcher, Davis Fletcher Farley, and Benjamin Parks Farley. She is also survived by nieces and nephews: Charles Aneews; Sarah Ivey; Rebecca Baltziegler; Susan Dubek; Elizabeth Major; Johneeaman; Jetta Boyd; Ann Rouse; Martha Simmons; and Trip Purcell and many grand-nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pritchard's working life was at Duke Hospital where she began work as a medical secretary on the first day the hospital opened in 1930. She was an avid reader, bridge player, and learner aneenjoyed attending various classes at Duke's Learning ineetirement program. She was a devoted member of Asbury Uneed Methodist Church for more than 85 years. The Church was very important to her, and she served actively in all areas of its work, especially the Sarah McCracken Sunday School Class. Funeral ceremonies will be held at Asbury Uneed Methodist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 17. Please join the family in the Sarah McCracken Class one hour prior to the service for visitation. Burial will immediately follow at Maplewood City Cemetery. Special thanks go to the staff of Spring Arbor Residential Living, especially Cynthia Bridges, Ramona Anderson, and Jackie Fennell for their care and nurture and to the wonderfully genee and caring nurses and CNAs at Hock Hospice Pavilion.
