Howard Ward Crawford

Howard Ward Crawford, 85, of Chatham County, NC died peacefully at his home on August 24, 2014. He was born on June 24, 1929 in Chatham County, NC, son of the late Joseph Clem Crawford and Julia Bynum Ward Crawford. Howard is preceded ineeath by his wife, Anne McBane Crawford. He is survived by three sons, Joe Crawford and his wife Sandi, Jerry Crawford and his wife Donna, and Mark Crawford and his wife Sheila, all of Chapel Hill, NC. He has nee grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He has two sisters, Sue Sturdivant and Clegg Williams, both of Chapel Hill, NC. In addition, he has neerous nieces and nephews. Howard lived his life on his family???s farm doing what he loved best, ???farming.??? He passed along the love of farming to his family, which now is in the fifth generation of the business. He loved visiting his friends and would ofteneear the gift of donuts, peanuts, or fruit to show how much he cared for each of them. He always wanted to know if anyone had any ???news???, as he enjoyed staying on top of what was happening in the neighborhood. A celebration to honor his life will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Orange Chapel Uneed Methodist Church. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service and burial. The family wishes to thaneeveryone for the many acts of kineess shown to Howard over the past few years, with your visits, cards sent, food brought and prayers. The family would like to specifically express their gratitude to Shirley Clark, Anee Brown, Terri Wood, Amanda Strickland, as well as UNC Hospice for their wonderful and devoted care to Howard during his illness, so that he could pass from this world, peacefully at home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund of Orange Chapel Uneed Methodist Church, 1634 Orange Chapel Clover Garden Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
