Herbert Braxton Finch

Durham, NC – Herbert Braxton Finch (Herb) 89, passed away on January 5, 2025 at home. Born in Henderson, NC on June 16, 1935. He was the son of the late Herbert Milton and Edna Sims Finch of Oxford, NC.

Herb was a proud Veteran of the US Army, serving from 1956-1958. After his service in the military, he moved to Durham in 1959. He was employed with Long Meadow Dairy, Rigsbee Tire Sales, and Pritchard Glass and retired from Jacobs Glass. 

 Herbert is survived by his loving wife, Faye F. Finch; his daughter, Sheri Finch Garnett; her husband, Steve; and his son, Randy Finch; his wife, Liz; and all of Durham, and his sister, Judy Englebright of Oxford, NC. 

 Herbert is also survived by his grandchildren, Blair Garnett (Jordan), Blake Garnett (Ali), Brittany Garnett Cook (Jake), Keith Finch (fiancé, Brook Austin), Kimberly “Kimi” Marion (Curtis), and great-grandchildren, Trip Garnett, Ayda Garrett, Willa Garnett, Lilah Cook, Rayland Marion, and Scarlett Faye Marion.

 Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service. Rev’s. Rodney Hicks and Ben Wines officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow View Memorial Park, Oxford, NC 

Friends may visit from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the Chapel before the service. 

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Valley Baptist Church, 6900 Garrett Rd, Durham, NC 27707 or Duke Homecare and Hospice.
