Henry S. Morgan

Henry S. Morgan, 90, of Carolina House passed away Tuesday September 16, 2008 after several months of declining health. Born in Prospect Hill, NC, Mr. Morgan was the son of the late William Rainey Morgan and Sarah Celestia Lessie Thaxton. He was a member of Yates Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and pianist for many years. After graduating from Elon College, he worked at Duke Uneersity for 44 years, the last 26 as Bursar. Surviving are his son: Barry Morgan and wife, Mary, of Greensboro; daughter, Beth Loeb and husband, Mitch Loeb, of Durham; grandchildren: Katherine Loeb and Jeremy Loeb; his sister, Margaret Allen of Roxboro; and many loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by Florence Morgan this past April, his wife of 66 years; brothers, Henry Carter Morgan and William R. Morgan, Jr.; sisters, Irene Kate Morgan, and Mae Alice Curasi; brother-in-law, Newton Allen; sister-in-law, Jane Morgan; and nephew, William Curasi. The family would like to express sincere appreciation for the years of support from his church family, medical support from Dr. Robert Patterson through Duke health system, from the med techs and aids from Carolina House especially Omega who always brought a smile to his face, Ireatha, Nikita, Fontella, Sonja, Glenda and Veronica thank you for your support. Special thanks also to Heartland Hospice, especially Tom, who easily established a rapport with both Florence and Henry during their final days. Many others from the Carolina House family and Heartland offered wonderful support. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Friday, September 19, 2008 at Yates Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Gordon and the Rev. John Frederick officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday evening from 6-8 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome.
