Harriet Coltrane Cannon Crawford died at the age of 82 at her home on Thursday, January 13, 2022. Harriet, the daughter of the late William Coltrane Cannon and Norma Louise Craft Cannon, of Concord, NC, was born in Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, NC on August 26, 1939. She attended Salem Academy, and graduated from Concord High School. Harriet graduated from Duke University with a double major in Religion and Early Childhood Education.
Harriet is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Walker Crawford, Jr. of Oxford, NC and her three children James Walker Crawford, III (Tammie) of Henderson, NC, Julia-Brent Crawford Milholen (Hal) of Siler City, NC, and Harriet Crawford Hoyle (George) of Henderson, NC. Her grandchildren Coltrane, Sidney, Jennings, George, Caroline, Sherrie and Jonathan. Her great grandchildren Caroline, Walker, Jack, Asa, Laura Grace, Crawford, Liam, Payton and Delilah. Her siblings Louise Cannon Whitley, Margaret Cannon West, Mary Bost Cannon Gray, Winslow Cannon Leatherman, and William Coltrane Cannon, Jr.
Mrs. Crawford’s love of community was demonstrated in her commitment to and her work in her church, Oxford United Methodist, the Granville Health System, Vance Academy and many other organizations. Harriet was an avid bridge player and loved the friends she made through bridge in Granville, Vance, and Person counties and in Clarksville Va.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 21, 2022, from 6:30 to 8:30 in the evening at the family home. A memorial service will be held at Oxford United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 22, 2022.

Harriet was a loving and caring Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend. Her devotion to her family encompassed her life and all those around her.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers for the love and care they gave to Mrs. Crawford during her illness - Mary Ellen Stovall, Joyce Moore, Debbie Barber and Patricia Ayscue.
