Chapel Hill - H. Trawick Ward of Chapel Hill passed away June 8, 2010. He was born August 28, 1944 in Bainbridge, GA. Mr. Ward received his PhD from UNC-Chapel Hill and was employed as a research archaeologist at UNC until his retirement in 2000. He was the author of many professional research papers and books and led field school excavations throughout the southeast. Trawick enjoyed visiting his children and grandchildren, woodworking, gardening, and cooking, especially whole pig BBQ. Trawick is survived by his wife, Frances Ward; daughters, Rachel Rueckeis of Berlin, Germany; Lydia Haren of Charleston, SC; and Catherine Harness of Charlotte; son, T. Spooner Ward of Atlanta; aneeight grandchildren. A Mass of the Resurrection will be offered 11:00 AM Saturday, June 12 from Holy Family Catholic Church in Hillsborough. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service in the church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a favorite charity in his nee.
