Grady Dickerson

Durham-Grady Harson Dickerson, 86, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at his residence. Born on October 13, 1924 in Vance County, he was the son of the late Walter G. Dickerson and Maggie Evans Dickerson. Grady was employed by the American Tobacco Company for 23 years before forming his own paint contracting business, Dickerson Paint Company. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. He was a longtime member of Edgemont Baptist Church and later, Aneer Avenue Baptist Curch. He was adored by his family. Grady was survived by his son, Alan Dickerson Cindy; daughter, Ann Allen; brother, William Dickerson all of Durham; sister, Florence Gupton, of Creedmoor; grandchildren, Kim Sullivan Tim, Clay Allen Christie, Adam Dickerson Tamellia, Shelley Merritt, Stephen, Jessica, Chasity and Brittany Dickerson; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Timothy and Greta Sullivan, Dylan and Taylor Allen, Kierra Woldu and her farther, Biniam Woldu, Brittany and Brianna Dickerson and many loving nieces and nephews. Grady was preceded ineeath by his wife of 66 years, Charlotte Marie Dickerson and son, Grady Dickerson, Jr. Flowers are acceptable, and memorial contributions may be made to Aneer Avenue Baptist Church, 2101 Aneer Avenue, Durham, NC 27703 or HealthWell Foundation P.O. Box 4133, Gaithersburg, MD, 20878. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, December 18, 2010 from the Chapel of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 W. Main Street, Durham, NC 27701. The Rev. Tim Wheeler will officiate. Interment will immediately follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit from 7:00 9:00 PM Friday, December 17, 2010 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
