Gordon William Clark

Gordon William Clark, age 68, died October 21 at SunBridge Nursing Facility in Siler City. A resident of Chatham County, he retired in 2001 as the Marketing Officer of the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro. Immediately prior to that he was a Senior Vice President of Rowland Worldwide, a marketing and public relations agency ineew York City, working such accounts as MasterCard International, Crafted With Pride In the USA, Cheseborough-Ponds, Enviracare and others. Before joining Rowland, Clark was with J. Walter Thompson Public Relations ineew York City, where he supervised the Eastman Chemicals and Plastics accounts. Before that he was an accouneexecutive at Creamer Dickson Basford Public Relations, also ineew York City. Starting in 1970, he worked on such accounts as Ocean Spray Cranberries, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Borden Chemical, The Bowery Savings Bank, Witco Chemical, Continental Can and others at Creamer Dickson Basford. Before going to New York City in 1964, Clark played the lead role of John Borden in The Lost Colony on Roanee Island. Ineew York he was in the off-Broadway production of Philosophy In the Boudoir and He Who Gets Slapped, with Berneette Peters. He was also in the national tour of The Great White Hope and worked ineepertory and touring theaters in such plays as Hamlet, Barefoot In the Park, Bus Stop, Miss Julie, A Midsummer Night
