Gertrude Yancey Sizemore, 86, of Oxford, NC died Sunday, May 3, 2020. She was born in Person County on May 27, 1933 to her now predeceased parents, H. Drannon Yancey and Bessie Yancey.
She was employed with Granville Hosiery for 40 years. She then worked with Bandag for 12 years and loved her Bandag family. She loved bluegrass music and always enjoyed the dances. You could always find her sitting along the third base line watching her family play softball.
She was a true caretaker, taking care of her mother-in-law and others over the years. She loved West Oxford Baptist Church and caring for the kids in the nursery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Whitmore for their excellent care of Mrs. Sizemore.
Gertrude is survived by her son, Lynwood Sizemore of Oxford; daughter, Debbie Robinson (Ricky) of Durham; grandchildren, Meredith Robinson (Nikki), and Angela Campbell; three great grandchildren, Caleb Ivy, Christopher Edwards, and Collins Robinson; and one great-great grandchild, Eli Ivy. She is predeceased by her husband, E. Coleman Sizemore; and sister Lizzie Vaughan.
A private family graveside service will be held at Meadowview Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bruce Beck officiating. The public is invited to view the service remotely by following the link provided above. The link will become active at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 6, 2020.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Gertrude’s memory to West Oxford Baptist Church, P.O. Box 458, Oxford, NC 27565.
