Geraldine Ross Sheehy

DURHAM - Mrs. Geraldine Ross Sheehy, 90, of 3121 Cheek Road, Durham, NC, died Thursday, neember 13, 2014 at her residence. A native of Durham, she was the wife of the late John Burke Thomas and the late Albert H. Sheehy, and the daughter of the late Ioma Flowers Ross and Otho Settle Ross. She is survived by her soneevin Ross Thomas and wife Cindy Wicks Thomas of Corinth, MS, grandchildren Nicole Thomas Silvanic and husband Craig of Durham, NC, James David Lemonds and wife Amanda living ineentral Asia, Kelly Thomas Lipford and husband Andy of Durham, NC, and Jessica Thomas Alston and husband Jason of Corinth, MS, and nee wonderful great grandchildren. Geraldine, known to friends as "Jerry" had a long and successful career as editor of Educational and Psychological Measurement, working for the beloved Dr. Frederic Kuder. At retirement, her love of words and people drove her to voluneer at The Sara P. Duke Memorial, serving as greeter aneeditor and feature writer of the gardens' newsletter The Dirt. She was a faithful member and officer of several organizations including Durham Women's Club, Alpha Iota Sorority, Investment Club of Durham, and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class at Grey Stone Baptist Church. She will long be remembered for her beautiful rose garden from which she lovingly supplied roses for every occasion, her determination to live a full and happy life, and her generosity which extended in many directions. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm Monday, neember 17, 2014 at Grey Stone Church with Dr. Clay Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
