Oxford: George R. Whitt, age 78, died at his home oneebruary 24, 2016 after a long battle with heart disease. A private graveside service will be held at The Stovall Memorial Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Neil Woodlief and Reverend Wesley Garner, Jr. Mr. Whitt was borneeptember 2, 1937 ineerson County to the late Hedrick B. and Mary A. Whitt. He was medically retired from Hilltop Lumber Company, having been in the building supply business for 40 years. Surviving are his wife of 57 years Annette Young Whitt; daughters Cynthia Whitt Mize (Lane) of Oxford and Cheryl Whitt Perry (Jeff) of Henderson; one son, George Randall Whitt (Susan) of Oxford; five grandchildren, Marianna Whitt, Robert Mize, Patrick Whitt, Catherine Perry, and Maxtoneerry; a sister-in-law, Patsy Young Rohman (Jeff); and a niece, Anne Redd of Raleigh. He was preceded ineeath by twin infant sons Gregory and Jeffrey Whitt; and a sister Mary Helen Whitt Honeycutt. The family will receive friends at the home and after graveside services. The family wishes to thank Dr. Craig Hoffmeier and staff, Dr. Eric Moore and staff, also Duke Home Care and Hospice staff Angela Cooper, Ruby Byrd, and Caroline Wilson, and a special thanks to Rhonda Tuck.
