Gene Arthur Moye, Sr. age 83, died on April 21, 2021 in Midlothian, VA. He was born to the late Tom Moye and Annie Lee Moye in Kinston, NC on October 9, 1937.
Gene was a man who cherished his family and had great love for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He loved when family would come to visit. His grandchildren would take turns coming over each summer to spend a few weeks together, visiting theme parks, and enjoying other fun activities together.
Gene and his late wife, Virginia, resided in Florida for more than 40 years. Gene retired from his job as a Regional Operations Manager with Paine Webber Stock Brokerage Firm in Palm Beach, FL, more than 25 years ago. Upon retirement, Gene turned his hobby of collecting china, crystal, and silver into a home business. He was a long-time supplier for Replacements, LTD in Greensboro, NC.
Gene loved to travel, but no one is quite certain if this was because he loved it, or because Virginia loved it and he loved making her happy. In addition to many domestic locations, He and Virginia were blessed to have had numerous trips to Europe, Canada, and Hawaii. As much as Gene loved these trips, a simple visit to a Goodwill store to “look for china” might have been just as satisfying to him.
Of all the great places that Gene’s been, there was only one place where you were certain to always find him. Gene never missed his regular morning breakfast at McDonalds – literally! 365 days a year!
Gene is survived by his sons, Gene Moye, Jr., Jerry Moye, and Michael Moye; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and numerous cousins. He is predeceased by his dear wife of 64 years, Virginia Dean Moye; and parents, Tom and Annie Moye.
