Fred Edward Brinskelle, Jr.

Mr. Fred E. Brinskelle Jr., 87, passed away on February 21, 2022.

Fred was born February 21, 1935, in Birmingham, AL to the late Fred and Augustine Brinskelle.  He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1956 with a degree in Chemical Engineering.  He also attended the Wharton School of Finance. After retiring, he received an AA In Environmental Health and Safety.  He proudly served in The United States Army.

He was an avid skier and loved flying his private plane for many years.  He served the Notre Dame Club of Eastern NC for many years as president, on the club’s board, and other committee activities.

He was a founding member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and a member of the Steering Committee for the design and construction of the church.  He served on the Cemetery Committee in the establishment and operation of the cemetery, and was committee chair for over 19 years.

Fred is survived by his wife, Phoebe Brinskelle, daughter Dr. Margaret Burgin, and son Fred E. Brinskelle III, grandchildren Luke, Olivia, and Aven Burgin, and Isabel and Cole Brinskelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 2:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2022 from St. Matthew Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held 7-9:00 PM Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Hall Wynne Funeral Service.
