Frances Elkins Laneey

Mrs. Frances Elkins Laneey, 83, of Springdale Drive in Pittsboro died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill. Born in Chatham County oneeptember 9, 1928, Mrs. Laneey was the daughter of Tatum Elkins and Alma Joy Lambert Elkins. Mrs. Laneey was retired from maneement in the hotel business. She loved her family, her dogs, cats and fish. Mrs. Laneey enjoyed flowers and gardening as well as fishing at the Outer Banks. She was a very good cook, often preparing fried chicken, country style steak or french fries a treat that her children would often bring their friends over to enjoy. Mrs. Laneey was a member of Hanks Chapel Uneed Church of Christ. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Allen Laneey; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Ken Green of Pittsboro; her sons and daughters-in-law, Ronee and Robin Laneey of Knightdale, Greg and Janet Laneey of Sanford, Timmy and Lisa Laneey of Pittsboro; her grandchildren, John Laneey, Raven Laneey and Kenley Green; brothers, Jack Elkins of Siler City and Jim Elkins of Virginia; and sisters, Margaret Vadersen of Virginia, Mary Cheek of Greensboro and Flo Turner of Siler City. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Laneey was preceded ineeath by a brother, Ted Elkins. The service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Frances Elkins Laneey will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, May 3, 2012 at Hanks Chapel Uneed Church of Christ with the Rev. Bob Wachs presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 6 8 pm Wednesday at Hall Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro, and at other times at the residence.
