Frances Clay Preddy Ferrell

Oxford: Frances Clay Preddy Ferrell, 91, of Berryville, VA, died on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at her residence. Mrs. Ferrell was born June 15, 1925 in Granville County, NC, the daughter of the late John Royal Preddy Sr. and Alpheous Barnes Clay Preddy. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Oxford, NC and later the Berryville Baptist Church in Berryville, Va. She married the love of her life Wayne Benton Ferrell Sr. on May 4, 1944 in Oxford, NC. They shared a beautiful life for 67 years. He preceded her in death on July 1, 2011. Frances was a warm and caring woman who cherished her entire family above all else. She loved being part of all of her family's lives and she took pride in all of their accomplishments. She was a talented seamstress. She was an avid sports fan. She loved watching ACC sports and in particular Wake Forest basketball. She loved her community and gave freely of her time to help others by volunteering for the American Red Cross for over 35 years. She is survived by her two sons, Wayne Benton Ferrell, Jr. and his wife, Janet, of Boyce, VA, Beverly Clay "B.C. Ferrell and his wife, Brenda, of Lake Wylie, SC. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren; Katherine Rose Kerr-Hobert, Daniel Benton Ferrell, James Alan Ferrell, Robert Clay Ferrell, Sean Michael Ferrell, and Casey Michelle Ferrell and six great-grandchildren whom she adored. She is also survived by her brother, Troy Preddy and his wife, Betty Jean, and 2 sisters-in-law, Barbara Preddy and Virginia Preddy all of Oxford, NC and many loved nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her sisters, Janet Preddy Dorsey and Janie Preddy Sanford; and brothers, John Royal, Bobby, Paul, and Grady Lee Preddy. The family will receive friends 12:00 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Corinth Baptist Church, Oxford, North Carolina and a funeral service will begin at 1:00 P. M. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Benton Ferrell, James Alan Ferrell, Robert Clay Ferrell, Sean Michael Ferrell, Casey Michelle Ferrell, and Joshua Kerr-Hobert. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Preddy, Steve Preddy, Michael Preddy, and Earl Harward.
