Florine Kittrell Dement

Florine Kittrell Dement, age 97, died peacefully on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Willis and Cornelia Blackwell Kittrell. Florine was born in Vance County, NC on September 17, 1925.

Florine was a beautiful woman who worked about 30 years as Librarian serving two libraries. She had a loving heart and a kind smile with a quick wit.

Florine is survived by her husband of 72 years, William T. Dement, her sister, Barbara McGhinnis and brother, Dr. John Kittrell (Anne) and several nieces and nephews. She was beloved by many and will be dearly missed by her church family, her bridge friends, her Investment Club, and her Carrie Fuller Circle ladies, where she contributed faithfully to many worthwhile projects to serve others. In her younger days she and her friends were affectionately known as “The Wild Bunch”.

Florine was preceded in death by her parents and sadly, her daughter, Edith Gail Dement.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Oxford United Methodist Church, Oxford, NC and officiated by Reverend Glenn Stallsmith. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Oxford, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Oxford United Methodist Church, P O Box 757, Oxford, NC 27565.
