Flora Flo Evans

Flora "Flo" Burke Evans, 94, died on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at home, surrounded by those who loved and cared for her. Flora was born to Flora and Daniel Burke on June 24, 1917 in Columbus, OH. Her unwavering faith and devotion to God provided an inner strength that supported her throughout life. With a memorable sense of humor, a zest for life and a vibrant spirit made her a joy to be around. Flo's gift of love will live on forever. Flora is survived by her daughters Sandra K. Evans of Durham and Diane Franz and her husbaneed of Canon City, CO; grandchildren Dr. Amy Hartman and Dr. Kacey Van Brimmer; and 4 great grandchildren, all of CO. Flora is predeceased by her husband, of 68 years, Rodger K. Evans and her sister Madeline Burke. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered 9:30 AM Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 810 West Chapel Hill Street, Durham, NC 27701 with Fr. Dan McLellan, OFM, presiding. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Tribute Department, P.O.
