DURHAM -Evelyn Clegg Deal Ingram, age 84, a lifelong resident of Durham, NC died on January 24, 2012 at Duke Medical Center due to kidney failure and other health issues. Evelyn was born in Durham oneebruary 2, 1927 to the late Martineell and Pearl Tilley Clegg. She was a graduate of Durham High School and was employed for 31 years at Research Trianee Institute as an Executive Assistant and Contract Administrator before retiring. Evelyneerved as President of the Durham Chapter of Certified Professional Secretaries. She was also a proud member of Stonecroft Ministries and was involved with a local prayer connection group. Evelyn is survived by her son, Michael Deal and wife, Robin, of McLeansville, NC; her daughter, Pamela Shannonhouse and husband, Harry, of Kernersville, NC; and her youngest son, Jim Deal and wife, Susan, of Franklin, NC. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Jeanne Bolton, and husband, Alan of Granville, OH; step-daughter, Punky Caldwell, and husband, Mark, of Ashland, KY; and step-son, Chip Ingram, and wife, Theresa, of San Jose, CA; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Maurice Clegg, and wife, Virginia, of Durham, NC. Evelyn was preceded ineeath by her first husband, William "Vernon" Deal; and second husband, Ralph B. Ingram; sister, Geraldine Rowe and husband Bill; and granddaughter, Lara Shannonhouse Fix. Friends may visit Friday evening, January 27th from 6-8 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, January 28th at Cresset Baptist Church, 3707 Garrett Road, Durham, NC 27707 followed by interment at Woodlawneemorial Park, 2107 Liberty Street, Durham, NC 27703. Flowers are welcomed or memorials canee made to the Durham Chapter of the American Cancer Society ineer honor. Also special thanks to the wonderful medical staff on the 9th floor at Duke Medical Center for the loving care given to Evelyn during this past month.
