Eugene J. Mogilnicki, 85, died Saturday at home following an extended illness. A native of New Bedford, MA, he attended New Bedford public schools and graduated from the Uneersity of Mass. at Dartmouth ineextile chemistry. Mr. Mogilnicki moved to North Carolina and resumed studies at NC State Uneersity, where he graduated with a chemical engineering degree after serving in the Army Air Force during WW II. He and his wife, Ruth, married in 1949 and made their home in Durham. Mr. Mogilnicki spent his career of over 40 years with the William M. Piatt Co. as a consultineengineer and was secretary-treasurer of the company. He also served as president of the NC Consultineengineers Council. Mr. Mogilnicki was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth E. Mogilnicki; a sister, Nancy Crotty and nieces, Kathleen and Patricia Crotty of Coconut Creek, FL; and nephews, Eric J. Mogilnicki of Chevy Chase, MD, Robert Mogilnicki of Marion, MA and Stephen Mogilnicki of Somerset, MA; and six grand nieces and nephews. A Mass will be said 10:00 AM Saturday, March 31 in Immaculate Conception Church. A reception will follow. Private burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Bedford, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to: Immaculate Conception Church or Duke Community Hospice.
