Eugene Holland Moore, Iii

Eugene Holland "Chip" Moore, III, age 57, died peacefully Sunday morning, July 12, 2009 at Durham Regional Hospital. A Durham native, Chip was born to the late Beatrice Womble Moore aneeugene Holland Moore, Jr. on August 26, 1951. Chip graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and taught in the Durham Public Schools for 30 years. He played a significant role in the lives of many middle school students while teaching English at Githens and Carrington Middle Schools. For 20 years, he served as an instructor/academic director for the Duke Uneersity Young Writers' Camp. Chip is survived by his sister, Betsy Moore DeCampo and husband, Joseph, of Morehead City; three nephews: Daniel DeCampo of Chicago, IL; Luke DeCampo and Timothy DeCampo, both of Morehead City; and many, many special friends. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 15, 2009 in Maplewood Cemetery, Section 3, with the Reverend Lisa Brown-Cole presiding. Friends may visit Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home, 1113 W. Main St., in Durham.
