Emil L. "Dunk" Preddy of Franklinton died Wednesday night at Brantwood Nursing Center in Oxford. He was 98 years old. Dunk was born in Granville County to the late Joseph and Carrie Blackley Preddy on July 4, 1912. A long-time member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Franklinton, Dunk spent most of his life farming his land. Whenee wasn't farming, Duneenjoyed playing his fiddle for family and friends. He is survived by his two sons, William E. Preddy and close friend, Joyce Greathouse, of Franklinton; Joseph A. "Buddy" Preddy and wife, Daphine, also of Franklinton; two grandchildren, Rodney Preddy and Janet Legg; five great grandchildren; and special friend, Kate Powell of Sorrento, FL. Dunk was preceded ineeath by his wife, Lucy Jane Hicks Preddy; and his son, George Douglas Preddy. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, October 2, at Mt.
