Elyce Ann Brown of Durham, NC passed away on November 3 following a brief illness. She was 68.
Elyce was born in Plainfield, NJ to Horace and Louise Brown. In 1978, she completed a bachelor’s degree in music at Eastern Carolina University and returned to Plainfield where she worked as a church organist. She later became certified in medical coding and billing and worked for many years at Chestnut Lodge Hospital in Rockville, MD. In 2005, she moved to Augusta, GA where she worked at the local humane society until her retirement. She cared deeply for animals and was a wonderful “cat mom.” She enjoyed music, reading, and classic movies and TV shows.
Elyce was predeceased by her parents and her 2 older brothers, Paul and Keith. She is survived by her nephew, Arlo (Mary-Beth), her niece, Rachel (David Barish), and by 4 great-nieces and nephews. Her memorial service will be private. Those wishing to honor her life may send donations in her memory to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation or to their local animal shelter.
