Ellen Floyd Hardy

April 11, 1967 — May 19, 2021

Ellen Floyd Hardy, 54, of Franklinton, NC died on May 19, 2021 after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Vance County on April 11, 1967 to her parents, Hillman Barnes Floyd and Frances Wade Floyd.

Ellen was a loving, selfless woman of God, who loved her family and friends. She always placed other’s interests above her own and was an advocate for “the underdog”. She believed that it was always important to find a reason to laugh and smile each day. She loved animals and embraced each of her family pets. Ellen loved wildlife and found great joy in capturing their beauty through pictures. She was a genuine friend who was always there to lend a listening ear without judgement. Ellen always found a way to see the positive in each situation and even during her own sickness, she was more concerned with the well-being of others. She was a loving mother who adored her two children, Benjamin and Julia.

Her lifelong goal was to be a mother, and she dedicated herself to being the best mother she could be. She loved her husband, John and was always his number one supporter by encouraging and supporting him in everything he did. She loved her Lord and served Him faithfully as a vacation bible school teacher, choir member and church member. She will be greatly missed by all and will always have a special place in the heart of those who loved her.

Ellen is survived by her husband, John Blackwell Hardy III; her parents and her mother-in-law, Carolyn Hardy; her children, Benjamin Wade Hardy (Jessica) of Henderson and Julia Hardy Christensen (Christopher) of Oxford; her brother, Scott Floyd (Shauna) of Wake Forest, NC and many more loving extended family members and friends.

Ellen is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, George A. “Buddy” Wade and Ada Pridgen Wade; her paternal grandparents, William Edward Floyd and Ellen Harris Floyd; and her father-in-law, John Blackwell Hardy Jr.
