Ella Jean McDonald Evans, age76, passed away at her home on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. She was born on September 11, 1947, in Granville County, North Carolina to the late William Ralph McDonald and Florence Hester McDonald.
Jean retired from the state of North Carolina after working 30 years with children that she loved like her own. She was known for her home cooking, having the biggest heart and loving her family unconditionally.
Jean will be deeply missed by her friends and family, especially her children; Donna Evans (Donny), Mary Evans (Amy), and Edward “Jr” Evans, Jr (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Kayla Parrish (Joe), Lindsey Brogden (Shane) and Noah Terwilliger. She will also be missed by her precious great grandchildren, Adyson, Hailey, Tyler, Ethan and Harleigh. Jean also leaves behind her sisters, Patsy Owens (Joe) and Cathy Autry (Bobby) and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family too numerous to name.
Jean was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Edward Evans, and four brothers and four sisters.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan. To honor Jean’s life, a service will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, at 12:00 pm in the chapel at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan, 503 College Street, Oxford, NC. All who knew Jean and her family are welcome to attend. Jean’s final resting place will be next to her husband at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens.
