Elizabeth Lee Smith

Miss Elizabeth Lee Smith, 86, of US 15-501 North, Pittsboro, died August 16, 2009 at UNC Hospital. Borneeptember 2, 1922 in Chatham County, she was a daughter of Walter and Laura Dowd Smith. Miss Smith attended Bynum School, was a member of Bynum Uneed Methodist Church, and retired from Odell Mfg. She loved her church, crocheting, crafts and gardening. Survivors include Nieces Jean Williams of Chapel Hill, Virginia Roper and husband Geoffrey, of Pittsboro; Nephew, Randy Smith and wife Joan of Portsmouth, VA; several great nephews and great nieces; as well as extended family and friends. Services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday from the graveside at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Jeff Babajtis presiding. Friends may visit with the family at Miss Smith's residence following the service.
