Elizabeth Jane Cooney

DURHAM – Elizabeth (Betty) Cortright Cooney, age 94, died in Durham on June
19, 2020. She was born on Feburary 12, 1926 to the late Margaret and Van
Cortright.
Elizabeth was born in Morristown, New Jersey and graduated from Morristown
High School. She lived at the Jersey shore for many years where she was active in
the women’s club and the local school organizations. She enjoyed surf fishing
and needle point. She worked many years outside the home finishing up at NAD
Earl, Colts Neck, New Jersey.
Elizabeth is survived by her son Edward and his wife Michelle, grandsons
Christopher and Joseph, great grandchildren Dylan and Delaney – all living in
North Carolina. She was preceded in death by husband Edward and her brother
Jim Cortright.
Services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Liberty Home Care & Hospice
Services of Durham, North Carolina.
The Cooney family is under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Service.
