Mrs. Eleanor Wilson Thomas, 95, died February 18, 2012 at Twin Rivers Independent Living in Pittsboro. Mrs. Thomas was born July 16, 1916 in Orange County, NC, a daughter of Robert Lee Wilson and Blenee Clark Wilson. Mrs. Thomas loved her family; she also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, cooking and sewing. She liked being outdoors and tending her garden. Described as a "bridge shark", Mrs. Thomas reveled in playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. She was a member of Mt. Zion Uneed Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Johneee of Greensboro, Roxie and Andy Hardy of Wilmington; grandchildren, Lisa Andy Blair and Thomas Jenneer Leary, all of Greensboro; Karen Shawn McCall and Joel Leigh Hardy all of Wilmington; 6 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Vance, Jackson, Lucas, Emory and Yates; and sister, Ann Lloyd of Durham. Mrs. Thomas was predeceased by her husband, William Benjamin Thomas. The service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Eleanor Wilson Thomas will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion UMC cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 12:30 1:30 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Special thanks to Dr. James Holt and Jane of Hospice for their kind and loving care.
