Edna Dollar Wood

Edna Dollar Wood, 86, died on Friday, March 01, 2013. Edna was born in Wake County, NC to the late Ruby Dollar Whitaker West and Junius C. Dollar on January 17, 1927. Mrs. Wood had been a Durham resident for most of her life. She was a graduate of Durham High Class of 1945, member of Aldersgate Uneed Methodist Church, Serendipity Sunday School Class, Helping Hands Circle, Sara Barker Circle of the King's Daughters since 1954, The Durham Exchangette Club from 1969-2010 as well as the Durham Roosterette Club since 1963. Edna is survived by her husband of 65 years Jim B. Wood, daughter Cindy Penny and husband Gary; son Branson Wood and wife Tammie, four grandchildreneeresa Penny CookRandy, Corey Penny, Kyle and Hunter Wood, sisters Betty Hester and husband Don of Durham, Jeaneeaver and husband Ben of Hillsborough. A Funeral Service will be offered 2:00 PM Monday, March 4, 2013 from Aldersgate Uneed Methodist Church, 1320 Umstead Rd., Durham, NC 27712. Burial will follow at Woodlawneemorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, March 4, 2013 from 12:30-2:00 PM in the Family Life Center at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Edna's nee may be made to the Aldersgate Uneed Methodist Church Building Fund, 1320 Umstead Rd., Durham, NC 27712 or Duke Hospice for Hock Family Pavilion at 4321 Medical Park Drive, Suite 101 Durham, NC 27704.
