Edith "Edyie" Cooper McDonald, 68, of Old Graham Rd, Pittsboro, died unexpectedly March 15, 2008 at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford. Edyie was borneeptember 18, 1939 in Quitman, Arkansas to Elmer and Pearl Swaffer Kennedy. She was a kind, loving woman who enjoyed gardening, knitting, bird watching, and golf. She also loved attending her grandchildren's baseball games. For over 20 years, she was the owner of Edyie's Florist; at the time of her death she was the owner of Edyie's Beauty Salon which she has operated for over 20 years as well. Edyie was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church, and also attended Chatham Community Church in Pittsboro. Edyie is survived by her husband Larry McDonald of Pittsboro and Rockingham; sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Brenda Cooper of Pittsboro, Doug Cooper of Goldsboro, Randy and Jenny Cooper of Pittsboro; step-daughters, Cecilia McDonald of Pittsboro, Lari Lee Isley of Rockingham; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Mearle Pierce, Alfreida Johnson and Linda New, all of Arkansas, Carolyneeeden of Myrtle Beach, and Donna Bogle of Louisiana. Edyie was preceded ineeath by her first husband, Clay Cooper, in March, 1981. The service to celebrate Edyie McDonald's life will be conducted by Pastor Jeff Lawrence and Pastor Tripp Harmon at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, March 18, 2007, from Pittsboro Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall following the service.
