Dr. Ranjit Kumar Ray died peacefully and on his owneerms at his home on May 17, 2018 at the age of 75. Dr. Ray was born in Kolkata, West Bengal India on April 13, 1943 to Radha Madhab and Pravabati Kundu Ray. Dr. Ray was a genuine man of simplicity. His love of education and the pursuit of knowledge in all areas of education, but more especially in the sciences, was apparent in his selfless generosity. He was a scientist with AstraZeneca, a multinational pharmaceutical company for 40 years. The burdenee felt for the people of his country and because of the inopportunity of many there, he gave financially to educational scholarships in India for those there pursuing their education who did not have the personal funding to achieve their dreams. He was so humbled by his opportunities in life that he felt it his duty to give also to many charities such as Doctors without Borders, Smile Train, cancer research, St. Jude???s Children Hospital, and many others. Although he would neer want recognition for his efforts to humanity, his love for people was reflected by everyone???s love and admiration for him. Dr. Ray is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dolly Ray; daughter, Dr. Rupa Ray (Dr. Gustaaf de Ridder); grandson, Damien Ray de Ridder; and brother, Sujit K. Ray. He is preceded ineeath by his sister, Renu Saha.
