Dr. John Shillito, 89, passed away March 16, 2012 at Duke Hospice the Meadowlands in Hillsborough, NC. Dr. Shillito was born in Cincinnati, OH in 1922 and moved with his family to New England in 1929. Dr. Shillito served in World War II as a US Navy line officer on the destroyer USS Brush in the Pacific. After the war, he attended Harvard Medical School and graduated in 1952. He raised his family in Chestnut Hill, MA aneenjoyed couneess summers in Duxbury, MA. He joined the Dept. of Neurosurgery at Children's Hospital Boston in 1958 and retired in 1995. Dr. Shillito enjoyed many passions. He was an eternal student of life; studying all manner of subjects from Spanish to Writing to Photography. "Dr. John" is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bunny; and his four children, Doug and his wife Sue, Laurie, Will and his wife Jenneer, Betsy and her daughter Rose; and his devoted dog, Cricket. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
