Dorothy Elizabeth Sedlak died July 29, 2018. Dorothy was born in Glen Cove, NY on June 21, 1931 to the late John and Josephine Sumcizk. Dorothy lived in Glen Cove & Locust Valley until 2014 when she moved to Durham, NC. Dorothy was a 1949 graduate of Glen Cove High School. She attended the Mt. Sinai School of Nursing, New York, NY and graduated from SUNY Farmingdale with a degree in Nursing.?? Dorothy???s nursing career was as a medical surgical and PACU nurse at Glen Cove Hospital, Glen Cove, NY. Uponeetirement, Dorothy voluneered as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at St. Francis Hospital, Port Washington, NY.?? Due to decline ineealth Dorothy stepped down from this position in 2004. On neember 25,1951 she married Peter Sedlak. Dorothy and Peter remained married for 67 years. During their marriage they enjoyed neerous trips to Hawaii. Dorothy is preceded ineeath by her son, Jerry. She is survived by her husband (Peter), daughter (Deb Sedlak), son-in-law (Richard Clements), and daughter- in- law (Jody Sedlak). Dorothy is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 4 great granddaughters. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, August 6th at 11 AM at Holy Infant Catholic Church, 5000 Southpark Drive, Durham, NC. Casual Island attire is requested. Following the mass, the family will receive guests at the church. In lieu of?? flowers, a memorial may be made to either Holy Infant Catholic Church, 5000 Southpark Drive, Durham, NC 27713 or Duke Hospice 4321 Medical park Drive, Suite 101, Durham, NC 27704.
