Dorothy ???Dot??? Ray Carden

Dorothy ???Dot??? Ray Carden, 96, passed away Saturday, June 2, 2018. A private interment will be at Woodlawneemorial Park. Dot was born May 6, 1922 in Wake County, NC to the late Sam and Lucy Ray. She was a long-time member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Durham prior to moving to Virginia, and later Tennessee, with her daughter and son-in-law. She retired from Central Carolina Bank where she worked as a Customer Service Representative. Dot enjoyed being outdoors, working in the yard, watching the birds that visited her bird feeder, and traveling. ??She particularly loved visiting Hawaii and Las Vegas. She loved her family very much, aneespecially looked forward to receiving cards from her niece, Pattie Smith. Dot is survived by her daughter, Jan Cardeneewis, son-in-law, Michael Lewis, grand-dog Bandit, four nieces and two nephews. She was preceded ineeath by her husband, George Haywood Carden. She was also preceded ineeath by sisters, Lucille Miles, Clyde Claytoneevelyn Smith and Frances Edgerton, and a brother, Samuel "Buck" Ray, Jr. Memorial donations in honor of Dot may be made to either the Fisher Center for Alzheimer???s Research Foundation, 110 East 42nd Street, 16th floor, New York, NY?? 10017, or your local animal rescue organization.
