Doris Johnson Mccauley

Doris Johnson McCauley, resident of 2000 Hillandale Road, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at Durham Regional Hospital. Born in Fayetteville, NC, Doris was the daughter of the late Willis Alton Johnson and Lillian Ward Johnson. She attended the Uneersity of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and remained a loyal Tarheel throughout her remaining years. UNC was ineer heart and soul and she continued close to the uneersity even after retiring. For several years she was the Director of Personnel at UNC Memorial Hospital. Doris was Associate Director of Career Planning and Placement at UNC from 1968 to 1982. Doris was a gracious lady that neer met a stranger and loved life. She was a voluneer hostess at the Sara P. Duke Gardens and for many years was a Pink Lady at Durham Regional Hospital. She loved flowers and spent hours working ineer garden.. Doris was respected by many and selected as one of the ten most outstanding women in Orange County from 1950 thru 1999. She was a member of Grey Stone Baptist Church and the Skeeter Humpherys Bible Class. Surviving are three sons; Marvin Ward McCauley of Durham, NC, Donald Jay McCauley of Timberlake, NC and Gregory Scott McCauley of Nashville, TN; two sister, Frances Cotton of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Miriam Mitchell of Virginia Beach, VA; six grandchildren, Christopher of Graham NC, Collin and Corey of Rougemont, NC, and Daniel, Samuel and Kathryn McCauley of Riverdale, NY. Doris was predeceased by her husband, William Marvin McCauley; three brothers, Bobby, Joseph and Tommy Johnson. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Grey Stone Baptist Church. The Rev. Randall Floyd will preside. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery.
