Diane Walker

The world lost a beloved wife and mother, Diane Walker, on January 21, 2025. She was surrounded by her husband of 50 years, Hank Walker, and her children, Jonathan Walker, Elizabeth Morrison, and Patrick Walker.

Diane grew up in Cumberland, Rhode Island, and worked as an elementary school teacher. Once she and Hank married, she transferred that passion for education to her own children, raising them with unconditional love and dedication. She set a wonderful example for the family, always pouring out her love for others with her selflessness and generosity.

Throughout Hank’s career in the Army, Diane was a resilient and steadfast anchor for the family. From Washington State to Germany, she kept the household running smoothly, and lived by the saying “Bloom Where You're Planted.” No matter where the family lived, they were always home.

Diane was a quiet and gentle soul, most known for her love of family and devotion to her Catholic faith. She was never happier than when she and Hank were together with their children and their families. Baking was her love language, whether it was her famous Blueberry Buckle, or beautifully decorated birthday cakes for her grandchildren.

Diane was a devout member of St Matthew Parish, bringing Communion to homebound parishioners, participating in Bible study, and frequently attending daily Mass. She prayed the Rosary daily, and felt an especially deep connection to our Blessed Mother, Mary.

Although her passing was unexpected, Diane did not fear death. Everyone who knew her has no doubt that choirs of angels escorted her to the arms of the Lord. She was greeted in heaven by her parents, Bernard and Dorothy Masse; her sisters Susan Coburn and Cheryl Lemoie; and her brother David Masse.

Many are left behind to mourn her passing, including Hank, their children and their spouses, her sister Ann Marie Scholz, her brother Bernard Masse, and her seven beloved grandchildren: Dane, Claire, Bryson, Sarah, Sean, Hayden, and Braxton.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm on February 8th at St Matthew Catholic Church in Durham, followed by a burial at the church cemetery. A Rosary will be prayed in the Church at noon for anyone who wishes to join the family in prayer prior to the Mass.
