GREENSBORO: Dennis Thomasson Hight, Sr., a long time resident of Greensboro, departed for his Father's House on January 31, 2013. Mr. Hight was born June 25, 1924 and grew up in Lynchburg, Virginia, the son of the late John James Hight and Sallie Catherineelliot Hight. Dennis was one of eight siblings, Hazel E. Hight, Wilhelminee. Hight, Lucy Lerleen Hight, Mae P. Hight, Nancy Hight Hudson, James Lyle Hight, and John P. Hight, all of who preceded him ineeath. Dennis was a World War II veteraneerving in the European theater including the famous Battle of the Bulge. A longtime employee of Western Union, he moved throughout North and South Carolina, Virginia and Maryland during his career and retired in Greensboro. Mr. Hight was married for over 55 years to the late Martha Crowell of Oxford, North Carolina. Mr. Hight is survived by his two children, soneennis T. Hight, Jr. Susan of Greensboro, NC and daughter Catherine H. Gaither Henry of Burlington, NC; five grandchildren Spencer, Scott and Caroline Gaither, Erin and John Hight, and great-grandson Oliver Gaither. Visitation will be on Saturday, February 2 from 9:45 until 10:45 AM at Gentry-neell & Vaughan Funeral Home in Oxford followed by a graveside funeral service conducted by Reverend Van Lowe at Elmwood Cemetery, also in Oxford. The family requests memorials be given in lieu of flowers to Muirs Chapel Uneed Methodist Church, 314 Muirs Chapel Road, Greensboro, NC 27410 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
