It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dennis Flannagan Easley on March 30, 2023 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham, NC. Dennis had just celebrated his 82nd birthday and died of natural causes. He will be greatly missed for his caring of others, love for family, sense of humor, honor to his country, and thoughtfulness. Dennis will be remembered for many contributions to his family, friends and community.
Dennis earned a civil engineering degree from the Virginia Military Institute and a Master of Business Administration at Florida Atlantic University. He served in the US Army, married his wife, Barbara, in Berlin, Germany, worked for Reynolds Metals Aluminum Company as Director of Corporate Finance, and supported Barbara in her successful ice-skating coaching career.
He is preceded in death by his father, Colonel Fred O. Easley, his mother, Margaret Flannagan Easley, brother Michael Frederick Easley, step-mother Nell Easley, and his wife Barbara Rintisch Easley.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Mark Erik Easley, daughter-in-law Mary Lynne Grigg, grandchildren Ford, Benson, and Charlotte Easley of Durham NC; daughter Jessica Margaret Easley of Longmont, CO; stepsisters Katherine Weems and Margaret Bornhorst of West Palm Beach, FL; and cousins Carter Flannagan and Bette Davis of Newport News, VA.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, May 20th at 200pm. The service will be held in Durham, NC at Westminster Presbyterian Church’s memorial garden.
