Deborah Rose Meyer

Deborah Rose Norris Meyer, age 74, died at Duke University Medical Center on Friday, December 27th, surrounded by family. She was born on July 30th, 1950, to the late William Earl Norris and Della Mae Norris.

After many years as a registered nurse, Deborah attended law school at Campbell University. Upon graduating, she launched a lengthy and successful career as an attorney. Deborah was endlessly devoted to her family and children, fiercely loyal to her many friends, over-the-moon in love with her grandchildren, and never afraid of a good party or fancy hat. She reveled in accomplishing things people told her she couldn’t, and repeatedly overcame insurmountable odds. She was both a survivor, and a beacon of light to many in their darkest hours.

Deborah is survived by her husband Craig Morgan, sister Glenda Davenport, brother Samuel Norris and his wife Janet, son Albert Meyer, son Joseph Meyer and his wife Eleanor Michael, stepson Adam Morgan and his wife Melissa, stepdaughter Sarah McConnell and her husband George, nephew Andrew Davenport, niece Beth Lassiter and her husband Mitch, niece Dawn Windham, and grandchildren Calvin, Nate, Austin, Corinne, and Riley. Deborah was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Jack Davenport.

A visitation will be held at Epworth United Methodist Church in Durham at 2 pm on Friday, January 3rd, followed by a service at 3 pm. A reception at the church will be held following the service. Rev. Donna Banks will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church.
