David Lawrence Williams

David Lawrence Williams, age 75, died unexpectedly at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC on July 31, 2024. He was born on March 2, 1949, to the late Claude B. Williams, Jr. and Margaret Geraldine “Jerry” Williams of Durham.

David is a graduate of Jordan High School, class of 1967. He attended Western Carolina University and North Carolina State University before enlisting in the U.S. Army. In 1990, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Hawaii Pacific University in Honolulu, Hawaii. He served his country honorably for 26 years and retired at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4.

David was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time on the golf course as often as possible. As a military history enthusiast, he enjoyed traveling to different Civil War battlegrounds. He also accomplished a long-awaited dream of traveling to Alaska and enjoyed sharing his experiences with his family.

David Williams is survived by his daughter Michele Scarbrough (Drew Scarbrough) and granddaughters Victoria and Melanie Scarbrough, of Hillsborough, his brother Alan Williams (Blanche Williams) of Durham, sister Pamela Williams (Jack Allen) of Takoma Park, Maryland, sister Lisa Williams of Durham, brother-in-law Brian Van Horn of Durham, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Chiyoko Williams, daughter Christina Williams and sister Karen Van Horn.

There was a private family gathering followed by cremation. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the future.
