Cynthia Currin Twisdale

CYNTHIA CURRIN TWISDALE OXFORD- Cynthia Currin Twisdale, age 47 a resident of Oxford, died July 28, 2008, at Duke Medical Center. She was a native of Oxford and was the daughter of Retta Currin Powell and the late Douglas T. Currin. She was a graduate of Peace College aneeast Carolina Uneersity, receiving her Masters Degree. Cynthia taught in the public schools in Rose High School in Greenville, Franklinton High School in Franklinton, and South Granville High School for 17 years. She was a very dedicated teacher, and active advisor for the FBLA. She held many leaderships positions in the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. Cynthia was a member of the Oxford Presbyterian Church, serving as secretary/historian of the Presbyterian Women and received the Life Time Membership Award. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday at the Oxford Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Walt McCanless. Burial will be private. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Doug Twisdale; two daughters, Jessica Twisdale and Laura Twisdale of the home; three sisters, Carol C. Barnes and husband Dudley of Oxford, Pam C. Counts and husband Joe of Chesapeake, Va. and Henri C. Bickett and husband Bill of Charlotte; nieces, Betsy, Keri, Ashley, Kendall, Allie; nephews, Chris, Justin B., David, Justin M., Dillion and Jacob. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cynthia Twisdale Memorial Scholarship Fund, 6182 Airport Rd., Oxford, NC 27565. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM at the Doug Currin homeplace, 5123 Old Hwy 75, and at other times at the home.
