Consuelo Adriana Medina Peña died peacefully alongside her family on September 6, 2020 from complications of a stroke. She was born on April 21, 1945 to the late Consuelo Oceania Peña de Medina and Francisco Medina Leyba.
She lived in various parts of the world and moved to the United States to attend Boston University, and later earned a Masters in Administration from the University of Massachusetts. She lived in Boston for nearly 20 years, and for many of those years she worked as a financial accountant for the Harvard Community Health Plan. She then moved to Winter Park, FL, where she lived for 28 years. She worked as a financial executive for Franklin Covey, and was a true believer of “first things first” and “begin with the end in mind” from the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and later worked for Orange County LIHEAP program where she engaged actively in community outreach. In Winter Park, she was a faithful member of the St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, where she also celebrated her daughter’s confirmation, graduations, wedding, and her grand-daughter’s baptism, moments that all filled her with joy, peace, and love. As a mother she gave everything to her family. By her side always was her sister, Ana. Together with her caring and devoted sister, she moved to Durham - Chapel Hill, NC to be close to her beloved daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids, and enjoyed the support and community of those at Parkview Health and Rehab, the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, and St. Thomas More Catholic Church. She was inspired by God’s love and the love of family, and this showed in the way she cared for her family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Westminster Winter Park, FL, and Parkview Health and Rehabilitation, Chapel Hill, NC for their loving care.
Consuelo is survived by her daughter Juliessa Pavon Ning and husband Tony Ning of Durham, NC, her two loving grandchildren Christopher and Adriana Ning; her sister Ana Medina, her brothers Rafael Medina and wife Celia, and Francisco Medina and wife Martina. She is also survived by nephews and nieces Rafael Medina and wife Dana, Martin Medina and wife Ana Rosina, Carla Medina and husband Omar, and Carmelita Medina, along with their adoring families of 8 grand-nephews and nieces; and many friends, all of those whom she loved and touched deeply. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Carmelita Medina.
