Claude Spencer Chamberlain, Sr.

Claude Spencer Chamberlain Sr., 81, passed away Friday, March 30 at the VA hospice unit in Durham after a brief illness. Mr. Chamberlain was born in Durham County to J.L. Chamberlain and Anee Watson Chamberlain. He retired from the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Chamberlain was preceded ineeath by his first wife, Norma Jean "Pat" Chamberlain; brothers, James Lee Chamberlain, Jr., Shuler Edward Chamberlain and Billy Wayne Chamberlain, Sr.; and sister, Shirley Cassidy Chamberlain. Mr. Chamberlain is survived by his wife, Dora D. Chamberlain; his brother, Lockwood Chamberlain Shirley of Durham; his children, Robert "Tommy" Chamberlain Cindi of Haw River, Norman "Buddy" Chamberlaineeresa of Oxford, Cathy Aneews Lee of Hurdle Mills, and Spencer Chamberlain Tana of Mebane; his stepchildren Cindy Grissom of Hillsborough and Brenda Grissom of Henderson; 15 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday, April 4 at South Granville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 8 P.M. on Tuesday, April 3 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service, 1113 West Main Street, Durham, NC 27701. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Durham VA Hospice unit at 508 Fulton Street, Durham, NC 27705.
