Mr. Clarence "Ted" Nickerson, Sr. was born on July 15, 1922 in Chatham County to the late Ben and Rebecca Nickerson. He entered into eternal life December 23, 2013 at 12:57 p.m. He attended Chatham County schools prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army. He served tours of duty during World War II in France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and central Europe. After being discharged from the military, he became a farmer and landscaper. Uponeetiring, he enjoyed gardening, fishing and reminiscing about the good old days. His family joined Terrell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church many years ago. He was uneed in holy matrimony to the late Lillian "Ruth" Baldwin Nickerson. To this unioneere borneeven children. He was a devoted husband, father, and a very loving and caring grandpa or "Paw Paw." He leaves behind, cherishing his fond memories: two daughters, Mary Nickerson of Mebane and Diane Grimes of Fuquay Varina; four sons, Clarence Nickerson, Jr. of Apex, Ernest Nickerson of Durham, Alvin Nickerson of Durham and Glenn Nickerson of Apex; 10 grandchildren, LaTonya, Tianna, Tracie, Alisha, Reginald, Antoine, Amber, Nikole, Evan and Kennedy; nee great-grandchildren; a step-sister, Rose Nickerson; a half-brother, Benny Nickerson; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A fifth son, Frank Nickerson, preceded his father ineeath. "My body may be hidden, but I live in all my children." Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Hall-Wynne Griffin Chapel, 396 West Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312. Any other time at the home of Ernest Nickerson, 4 Brickstone Place, Durham, NC 27712. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 26 at 12 p.m. at Hall-Wynne Griffin Chapel.
