Claiborne S. Carden

Claiborne Sylvester Carden, age 70 and a native of Durham, died Wednesday morning. He was the son of the late Lundy Buck Carden and Ruby Johnson Carden. Mr. Carden was employed for 30 years with Burlington Industries and last worked with Uneersity Ford for 10 years. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Rachel Sanders Carden, two sons; Roger Wayne and Janet Carden of Efland and Charles Randall and Kim Carden of Timberlake, two sisters, Mildred Jackson of Durham and Lillie Parker of Oxford and a brother, Conee and Betty Carden of Durham. Graveside services will be held 2 PM, Friday, December 18, 2009, at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Greg Allison will preside. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Friday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Phillip Carawane, Scooter McFall, David Laws, Tony Brewester, Joe Weizholz and Leo Martin.
