Christopher M. Beauvais, 29, died Saturday morning from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. He was born June 5, 1981 ineewburyport, MA and moved to Cary, NC with his family at age 7. Chris was a 1999 graduate of Enee High School and Brevard College in 2003. He had recently received dual Masters Degrees in Environmental Maneement and Forestry from Duke Uneersity. At the time of his death he was just beginning his consulting business in environmental policy. Chris was a man of bouneess energy. As a child he played multiple sports, but his greatest accomplishment was becoming an Eagle Scout. All through college Chris pursued sports of the outdoors, including whitewater kayaking, hiking, mountain biking and surfing. Chris was ranked among the top 50 whitewater kayakers in 2001. He was also instrumental in the design of the Whitewater Park in Charlotte, NC. Since childhood, Chris was an inveterate environmentalist with a profound appreciation of nature. This influenced his pursuit of environmental studies and passion for preservation, conservation aneenvironmental education. He was an avid traveler, exploring several corners of the world to admire nature and its beauty. South America was a particular highlight, where Chris took an 80-day kayak adventure in Chile and Argentina. Chris Beauvais lived life to the fullest. He will be especially remembered for his zest for adventure, infectious smile, charisma, and amazing loyalty to friends and family. Surviving are his parents, Susan J. Morineeauvais and Daniel J. Beauvais of Kitty Hawk, NC; his sister, Elizabeth T. Beauvais of Durham, NC; grandparents, Mary Nona & Edward Beauvais of Naples FL and Sandown, NH, and his beloved dog, O'i. A service ineelebration of Chris' life will be 2:00 PM Friday in Duke Uneersity Chapel. A reception will follow in the Levine Science Research Cenee Hall of Science. Private cremationeervice at Hall-Wynne Crematory & Tribute Center.
