Oxford Cheryl Brown Hawkins, age 74, died peacefully surrounded by family oneecember 8, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Wesley Thomas Brown, Jr. aneeva Hobgood Brown.?? She was born in Granville County on April 29,1945 and resided in Granville County for many prosperous years with her loving husband, Phillip. Cheryl had an eneepreneurial spirit, which led to owning and operating several successful businesses in the Henderson and Oxford communities.???? She opened Nits, Nats, Etcetera in 1969.???? This business ran successfully, and she went further to open Vance Brides and Formals in 1987.?? She also owned a successful floral business in Oxford that opened in 2005 called Ashley Jordan???s Flowers. Cheryl was a giving person, who loved to guide people down a better path for a brighter future. She believed in many, when they did not believe in themselves. Cheryl is survived by her husband of 37 years, Phillip Hawkins; a brother, Wesley Thomas Brown, III (Tric); a sister, Deborah Gough; nieces, Ashley Cloud (Andy) and Jordan Gough (Thomas); 2 great nieces and more loving family and friends to neerous to nee.???? She neer met a stranger and always had a warm hug for those ineeed. Cheryl was predeceased by her parents. A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends at 2:30 pm at Oxford Uneed Methodist Church on Sunday, December 15, 2019 officiated by Rev. Jenny Wilson with a simple visitation after the service. A private family inurnment at a later date. Cheryl loved color and the family requests friends and family to celebrate her life wearing vibrant colors. Flowers are greatly appreciated and will be accepted by the Hawkins family or your local nursing home for all to enjoy. Memorials may be made ineer honor to Oxford Uneed Methodist Church Literacy Fund, P.O. Box 757, Oxford, NC 27565.
