Catherine Bartolomeo

-DURHAM- Mrs. Catherine Bartolomeo, age 86, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Duke Uneersity Medical Center in Durham. Catherine was born on July 30, 1929 to the late Carlo and Mary Sanfilippo in Brooklyn, NY. Mrs. Bartolomeo grew up in an apartment located on the Brooklyn side of Ridgewood, NY near Bushwick High School where she later was a student. After high school, Catherine worked as a bank teller at Irving Trust Company Office located in the Empire State Building. During her time working for Irving Trust, she decided to go on a blind date and met the love of her life, Mr. Dominick Anthony Bartolomeo. Catherine and Dominick had two children and they spent many wonderful years together until his death in 1990. Upon his passing, Catherine decided to go back to work where she spent 10 years helping the children in the Westchester County area of New York as a school bus escort. Catherine is survived by her daughter, Carla Bartolomeo of Durham; her son, Louis Bartolomeo and his wife Terry of Florida; two grandchildren, Crystal Chavis James and Kimberly Bartolomeo and two great grandchildren, Brandyn and Shawn. Friends may visit the Bartolomeo family on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Hall-Wynne Funeral Service in Durham. A Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church located at 600 Holding Ave. in Wake Forrest on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11:00AM and will be officiated by Father Phillip Tyghe.
