Camille Holloway Marlowe

Camille Holloway Marlowe, 59, of 3610 Freeman Road, Durham died Friday, December 15, 2017. A memorial service ineelebration of her life will be held Friday, December 22, 2017, 10:00 am at St. Luke???s Episcopal Church, 1737 Hillandale Road, Durham. The celebration will be followed by a reception in Johnson Hall at the Church. Camille was born on July 8, 1958 in Durham, NC, the youngest child of William Linwood Holloway and Penny Gooch Holloway. She graduated from Durham High School in 1976 and from East Carolina Uneersity in 1980. She received her MEd. from the Uneersity of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 2011. Camille married Doug Marlowe - her highschool sweetheart -on April 10, 1982. Camille began an illustrious thirty-five year teaching career in 1984 that included Eno Valley Elementary School, Carrington Middle School, and Durham Public Schools central office. She completed her career at Highcroft Drive Elementary School in Cary. During this time she taught fourth and fifth grade, middle school math, served as a testing coordinator, and was an assistant principal at both Carrington Middle School and Highcroft Drive Elementary School. Camille touched the lives of thousands of students and huneeds of adults as she lived out her dream of being a teacher that began for her in third grade. Camille???s lessons of love, compassion, belief, the will to understand, and the responsibility to do lasting good in this world will live on through her students and colleagues and their students and colleagues ineerpetuity. She was uneersally inclusive. Camille loved spending time with her family. She opened her home to many family gatherings at Christmas, for birthdays, and most recently for Sunday ???family dinners???. She worked diligently to maintain aneexpand family traditions around holidays and annual extended family trips to Sunset Beach. Camille loved spending time with her friends from school, church, and faithful friends she had made and kept from elementary school on. Once you became Camille???s friend, you were always her friend and she loved aneenjoyed you unconditionally. Camille is a loving mother to Caroline Marlowe Ciampa and husband Robert Angelo Ciampa, William Douglas Marlowe, and Madison Camille Marlowe. She is an enthusiastic and adoring grandmother to Ava Camille Ciampa. She is also survived by her husband Doug Marlowe, her siblings Carson Holloway and wife Elaine Fields of Durham, Clay Holloway and wife Laura Holloway of Creedmoor, Carolyn Coggins and husband Monty Coggins of Concord. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Michael Marlowe, Cumhur Yuce, Carson Coggins and wife Allie, Alex Holloway, Caroline Coggins, Deniz Yuce, Lauren Holloway, Emily Holloway and Nikolas Marlowe, as well as Doug???s parents, John and Jean Marlowe, and his brothers John Marlowe and Mike Marlowe and wife Ilknur Marlowe. Memorials canee made in the nee of Camille to St. Luke???s Episcopal Church in Durham. The family offers special thanks to Camille???s doctors, to whom she loved aneentrusted her life, Dr. Jim Short and Dr. Adam Devore, along with all of the Duke Uneersity Hospital staff.
