Brenda Newton Wilkins, age 72, a resident of 5683 Tabbs Creek Rd., died Friday, October 19, 2012 after a lengthy illness with ALS Lou Gehrig disease. She was a native of Granville County and was the daughter of the late Stewart Edward and Margaret Almond Newton. Mrs. Wilkins was a graduate of Berea High School. She was a longtime employee of the NC Dept. of Veterans Affairs and a retired Executive Secretary for the Masonic Home for Children. A member of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church, she was in the WMU and prepared the church bulletins for both Tabbs Creek aneenon Churches. While health permitted, she was a member of the Mary Jamieson Woman's Club, the Granville Gardeners and a graduate of the Fuller's Business School. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, October 22, 2012 at Tabbs creek Baptist Church by Rev. Ken Compton, Rev. Lemar Wheeler and Rev. David Grissom. Entombment will be at Meadowview Memorial Park. Surviving is her husband of 53 years, Willie F. Wilkins; soneeff S. Wilkins of Grifton, daughter-in-law, Amy Wilkins; grandson, Matthew Wilkins and granddaughter Jenna Wilkins both of Grifton; brother, Tommy Newton of Youngsville. She was preceded ineeath by a brother, Billy Newton. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Gentry-neell & Vaughn Funeral Home and at other times at the home. The Wilkins family us under the care of Gentry-neell & Vaughn Funeral Home.
