Mrs. Beulah Hackney peacefully passed away early Monday morning, at her home in Carrboro, NC, while surrounded by her family. Beulah was born in Chatham County, NC, daughter to the late Thomas Hobby and Inez Hamlet Hobby. She was a faithful member of Carrboro UMC for more than 70 years and was very active in different areas of the church. She was also a past president of the Carrboro Civic Club.?? This active homemaker enjoyed all types of hobbies and crafts including; crocheting afghans, weaving baskets, wood carving, ceramics, and decorating cakes for weddings and special occasions. She is survived by her sons; Kenneth G. Hackney of Chapel Hill, NC, Billy Hackney and his wife, Nina of Chapel Hill and David Hackney and his wife Jean of Pittsboro, NC;?? her daughters Jean Ward of Carrboro and Barbara Thomason and her husband, Johnny of Chapel Hill;?? eleven grandchildren;?? fifteen great-grandchildren;?? and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Beulah was preceded ineeath by her husband, Henry Bryant Hackney. A service to honor the memory of her life will be conducted 2:00PM, Thursday, October 2nd, 2014 at Carrboro Uneed Methodist Church, 200 Hillsborough Rd, Carrboro, NC 27510, by the Rev. Rani Woodrow and Pastor Jim Jones. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service. Mrs. Hackney will be buried ineestwood Cemetery.
